I’ve always wanted to try desaturating a photo to see how that worked out, and the other day finally had a moment to mess with that. I said “finally” because I am like a crow with a shiny object sometimes, and one never knows what will catch my attention next.

So, I’ve had this on my list of things to do forever, and finally worked on it. (In my own defense, my list of things to do is a rather big list, and it is always getting bigger. If I owe you something, don’t worry…I’m getting there. I would say “sooner or later”, but you’ve probably figured out that “sooner” isn’t as realistic as one would hope. Anyway…)

I intentionally darkened the background; my goal here was to get the rose to really, really pop. And I liked the little bud out on the right of the photo, too, so I left it slightly red.

And thus we have a rose among the darkness.
